1812 Norway Road
This home is located behind the City Club and can be reached from Washtenaw,
turning on to Ferdon Road; Norway is the first street on the left.
You can park on the street or in the City Club parking lot and walk.
This Colonial type, two story home of the Kiefaber family was built in 1918, and legend says it was designed and lived in by Architect Fiske Kimball. Symmetry, balance and unity were Kimball's design tools, and these are quite evident when one looks at this house.
The Kiefabers are the fourth owners of this home, having moved there in June of 2008 after a major renovation by contractor Rob Nissley that took place in 2007 and 2008. The home is now 2,703 square feet with a master bedroom suite added on the second floor, a family room, laundry room and enlarged kitchen on the main floor. There are also 2 1/2 baths, a study, living room, dining room and three bedrooms.
Special art graces the walls of the Kiefaber home, and you will be delighted as you enter the front door. Your gaze will be drawn to the left to large colorful painted abstract flowers in the multi-dimensional copper wall sculpture created by artist John Douglas.
As you enjoy the living spaces of this enlarged and renovated home, you will continue to enjoy varied art styles of contemporary American artists. In the living room are two water colors "South Pastures" by Julie Oriet. On the dining room wall is an oil painting of tangerines by contemporary realist artist Loran Speck, and in the family room are three oil paintings of flowers by Selina Taylor. Information about these artists will be available at the home.
